President's Message
President’s Message
As the new NAWIC year begins, we find ourselves at a
crossroads of sorts. We must be able to move our association
forward while still respecting the past and the efforts of those
ladies that came before us. This is always a difficult and tenuous
path, but with the leadership we have in place this year, I am
certain that the Dallas Chapter will continue to grow and prosper.
We have a full slate of activities on tap for this year starting with
our Block Kids event on October 25th at the Texas Scottish Rite
Hospital. This is always a fun and entertaining way to spend a
Saturday morning. The imagination of those kids is mind-
boggling! I urge everyone to come out and learn all about this
event from a hands-on point of view.
As we move through the year, we will be holding our annual toy
drive for the patients at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in
December, hosting our 16th Annual Golf Classic in April and
shuffling up the cards at our 4th Annual Texas Hold’Em
Tournament in August. I’m sure you’ll find something in there to
perk your interest, and I look forward to seeing a lot of new faces
at these events.
We will also have the chance to participate in many of the
Regional and National events available to us. In November, we
can travel across the river to our Region’s Annual Planning
Conference, and April will bring a road trip to Tulsa for our Forum
where we will have the chance to cast our ballots for the next
Region 7 Director. Finally, our National Convention at the end of
August will bring plenty of sunshine, camaraderie, and
educational opportunities in the desert of Arizona.
All of these events will provide our members with the ability to
meet and interact with women from all aspects of the
construction industry. However, we must never loose sight of the
fact that no matter what you do or where you live, we are all the
same . . . women in construction. I urge you all to not be the
silent majority and to get involved! You never know where that will
lead not only our Chapter but this organization as a whole.
Respectfully Submitted,
Tammy
